A Quintessential Summer Wedding at Cheney Mansion | Chicago Outdoor Wedding Film

Marisa and Harry's wedding at Cheney Mansion was absolutely stunning. They got married on June 28, 2025 and had a quintessential summer wedding with an outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour, and dance floor.

The day started at two nearby Airbnbs: one for the Bride and bridesmaids and one for the Groom and groomsmen. They were so close together that it was easy for Charlie and I to split up and get shots of both groups (something to think about when wedding planning!).

While the girls got ready, they listened to music, sipped mimosas, and just casually put together their own bouquets. It was so impressive! I loved getting this footage - it really felt special. During the downtime, we grabbed some quick video messages with a few of the bridesmaids. Only a few tears were shed!

When it was finally time to head out, everyone loaded up into cars and drove approximately two minutes to the venue. It was so close! Again, another great thing to consider when you're wedding planning. Charlie flew the drone while we had some downtime and Marisa prepared to get into her wedding dress. The room where she got ready was stunning, with huge windows that let in so much natural light. I know her photographer, Megan, and I were just loving it.

After getting dressed, it was time for the first look and private vows! We found a gorgeous, shaded spot that gave them privacy for the special moment. I always love witnessing first looks and hearing private vows. Marisa and Harry's were so sweet! They made each laugh and tear up. Perfect.

After some portraits, bridal party photos, and family photos, it was time to set up for the ceremony. This ceremony was officiated by Harry's best friend and he totally nailed it. Again, lots of laughs and tears shed. The best combo!

Marisa and Harry were able to get extended family photos during cocktail hour and then mingle with their guests. Since it was outside, they had some yard games set up for people to play. It was a really nice touch!

When it was time for the cocktail hour to come to an end, they brought everyone under the tent-covered patio for the first dance, father/daughter dance, and mother/son dance, as well as the speeches. They wanted to get these big moments out of the way before dinner, which would be inside. Honestly, we think this worked out perfectly!

Dinner was served, Marisa and Harry cut their cake, and then it was time for dancing! The sun was down and it was a little cooler outside, the best way to kick off a night of dancing. Modern Love DJs killed it! While everyone danced, we pulled people aside to record quick video messages for the couple. Video messages at the end of the day are way different than messages given at the beginning of the day, and you can just imagine why. We love incorporating these fun, candid moments into our highlight films.

Overall, Marisa and Harry had a beautiful, personal, and meaningful wedding day. We were so happy to play a small role in their vendor team and we wish them the happiest marriage!
